Her line—“I am sick and tired of being sick and tired”—wasn’t rhetoric. It was reality.
Hamer’s voice was raw, rooted in gospel and grit, and she made sure America couldn’t look away from its violence. She founded grassroots organizations, demanded a seat at the table, and refused to be silenced.
