A. Philip Randolph
Union organizer and civil rights architect A. Philip Randolph (1889–1979) built the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters, the first major Black labor union in the United States. A strategist of mass protest, he inspired generations — from the 1941 March on Washington Movement to the historic 1963 march that carried his vision forward.
